It's been a while since I busted any 90's junk wax so here we go. 14 cards, 99 cents...
SQ1 - Nomar Garciaparra - Boston Red Sox - StarQuest - This is the one per pack variation, but I'm not complaining. If I were looking for rare inserts I wouldn't be opening a pack of 1998 Collector's Choice. Plus, it's a Red Sox card, and a Nomah to boot.
248 - Mickey Tettleton - Texas Rangers
222 - Trevor Hoffman - San Diego Padres - Great shot of the Brewers latest acquisition on the sidelines.
93 - Frank Catalanotto - Detroit Tigers - Diamond Debut - I always think of Catalanotto as a Blue Jay.
197 - Dave Magadan - Oakland Athletics
71 - Jeff Shaw - Cincinnati Reds
126 - Brad Rigby - Oakland Athletics - Rookie Class
105 - Miguel Tejada - Oakland Athletics - Rookie Class - I've lost a lot of respect for this guy over the past few years...
11 - Barry Bonds - San Francisco Giants - Cover Story - And the parade of winners continues.
188 - Brad Ausmus - Houston Astros - Masked Marauders - Subset apparently dedicated to the catcher's mask...
38 - Mark Wohlers - Atlanta Braves
145 - Mike Piazza - Los Angeles Dodgers
147 - Raul Mondesi - Los Angeles Dodgers - Another great shot of Mondesi signing some autographs. His cards were highly sought after for a short while there after he won N.L. Rookie of the Year in 1994, but he kind of fizzled from there. 1998 was his second of 3 consecutive 30 home run seasons.
This was a great pack for 99 cents. I know Collector's Choice is a cheaper set geared towards younger collectors but I love their baseball and hockey sets.
That Mark Grace smile card looks like it was made for a certain collector at Dinged Corners.
ReplyDeleteman is these some ugly cards
ReplyDeleteI actually liked that pack. cards might be drab, but the action photos are pretty sharp and the star power is pretty good.
