2008 Topps Series 1 Jumbo Box Break, Volume IX: Search for the Set

Here's your President's Day edition of the Box Break! I don't blame you if you're suffering from 2008 Topps burnout, but I'll finish this box off this evening and then we'll all move on with our lives. You know, until Heritage comes out and we glut ourselves on that. Ah, circle of life.

255 Brandon Phillips
155 Carlos Zambrano - Is he awesome because he's insane, or insane because he's awesome? The world may never know.
272 Anthony Reyes - Rocking the old-school striped stirrups. He deserves to bounce back from that 2-14 record last year.

127 Steve Pearce RC
197 Melky Cabrera - Uh oh, opening up the floodgates for more dupes. Already have this one and the next six:
48 Zach Duke
273 Rafael Soriano
162 Andy LaRoche
252 Dmitri Young
106 Josh Bard
149 Luke Hochevar RC
169 Adam Lind GOLD 0766/2008
C08-BR Bill Richardson - Huh, I didn't know he'd been nominated four times for the Nobel Peace Prize. Bully for Bill.

35 Cole Hamels
218 Clint Hurdle MGR - He looks awfully self-satisfied for someone with such a stupid soul patch.
101 Ryan Braun NL Rookie of the Year
311 Jeremy Guthrie - Whew, another Oriole. Jeremy is our #1 starter by default, thanks to the Bedard trade. De-fault! De-fault!

17 Cristian Guzman
254 David Murphy - Aaand spoiler alert: the rest of the base cards in this pack are doubles. Looks like I'm gonna be trading.
145 Magglio Ordonez
223 Odalis Perez
289 Justin Ruggiano RC
63 Jason Michaels
143 Willie Harris
15 Magglio Ordonez, Ichiro, and Placido Polanco: AL Batting Average Leaders

OTG16 Carlos Pena Own the Game
TCH15 Hideki Okajima Trading Card History: 1965 Topps - I've wanted this since I saw it on Cardboard Junkie! This is going up on The Great 1965 Topps Project.

190 Russell Martin Gold Foil
10 Miguel Cabrera Gold Foil
18 J. D. Durbin
182 Billy Buckner RC
80 Alex Rios

283 Jorge Sosa
226 Kurt Suzuki
267 Chris Burke

Man, half these Year in Review cards are Mets doing terrible things to the Braves. Not collecting this set...

I like the '65 Topps Okajima too, but they should have done a dual rookie card with him and Ellsbury to honor the Masanori Murakami card.
